Hilltrek introduce a new concept in waterproof outdoor clothing - Cotton Analogy®

Hilltrek introduce a new concept in waterproof outdoor clothing - Cotton Analogy®

Cotton Analogy® is a new concept in waterproof outdoor clothing designed for use in outdoor activities where toughness and high breathablity are important, such as field sports, game conservancy, bushcraft and outdoor photography.

Cotton Analogy® functions in a similar way to Nikwax Analogy®, well proven by Páramo in their highly successful range of Directional Waterproofs, by mimicking animal fur in providing both insulation and water-shedding.

Cotton Analogy® combines a robust cotton Ventile® outer with a synthetic inner Nikwax Analogy® Pump Liner which pushes liquid outwards to keep you warm and dry inside.

Field tested in the mountains, forests and moors of the North of Scotland, Cotton Analogy® Waterproofs have been subjected to the extremes of weather in activities which require the comfort of high breathability and a robust outer layer.

Two Jackets have been introduced Assynt Jacket retailing at £285 including VATand the Foinaven Smock retailing at £195 including VAT

All Cotton Analogy® Waterproof Clothing has been approved by Nikwax Fabrics and have also attained stringent standards - a minimum four hour resistance to 3cm of rain per hour - tested in the independent Leeds University Rain Room.
All Cotton Analogy® outdoor clothing is available off the shelf and Made To Measure.

Hilltrek Sponsor Mountain Weather Information Service

Hilltrek Sponsor Mountain Weather Information Service

The Mountain Weather Information Service MWIS is the best weather website for hillwalkers in our experience.
It is invaluable when planning a weekend trip or if you are lucky enough to live in the Cairngorms, as we are, just to check what the weather will be next day on the local hills.
We use it for most of our trips.
From April 2008 we have sponsored the 'Cairngorms National Park and Monadhliath' forecast page. To access it see www.mwis.org.uk

Hilltrek introduce Nikwax Analogy® Clothing for Young Hillwalkers

Wee Trekker Nikwax Analogy® Technical Clothing Range is designed for young hillwalkers who want to have clothing with the same uncompromising performance as their parents.
Designed using Nikwax Analogy®, well proven in Páramo Directional Waterproofs, the Wee Trekker Jacket and Trousers have many features found in the grown up versions.

Both Wee Trekker garments are available in an range of colours and three sizes; ages 3 to 4, ages 5 to 7 and ages 8 to 10.

We have had a long association with Nikwax, having been a Páramo retailer for many years in the retail side of our business.

Nikwax Analogy® fabric was developed by Nikwax Managing Director Nick Brown, one of eight Directional Textiles engineered by Nikwax for use in high performance clothing, and is used by Páramo in their highly successful range of Directional Waterproofs. It got its name because of the way it mimics animal fur in providing both insulation and water-shedding which works in all temperature and humidity conditions. In the same way that animals keep warm in very wet conditions, the Nikwax Analogy® Pump Liner pushes liquid outwards to keep you warm and dry inside.

All garments bearing the Nikwax Analogy® badge have attained stringent standards - a minimum four hour resistance to 3cm of rain per hour - tested in the independent Leeds University Rain Room.

Adventures in Kintail -The tale of the Aspira Trousers

Adventures in Kintail -The tale of the Aspira Trousers

Never lend your trousers when they are Páramo.
Dave, one of the Hilltrek owners, went hillwalking with a mate Alan in Kintail several weeks ago. Alan forgot his walking trousers but luckily Dave had a pair of Cascadas and his old trusty pair of Aspira trousers. The Aspiras fitted Alan perfectly - in fact too well. The first day on the Kintail ridge was spend in high winds, driving sleet and snow and occassional sun. The second day on Sgurr a' Mhaoraich was in glorious sunshine and no wind, in fact a typical spring weekend in the Scottish Mountains.
The Aspiras perfomed so well, and Alan liked them so much, that for the princely sum of £40 they changed hands. Oh well at least Dave can get the latest version of Aspiras relatively easily.

Hilltrek get Sympatex Licence

We have recently secured a licence from Sympatex GmBH after extensive testing to use the Sympatex 3 layer Professional fabric in the our overtrousers. Further garments will be approved this month.

Hilltrek secure coveted Nikwax Analogy® Waterproof Licence

We have recently secured a licence from Nikwax Directional Textiles to use Nikwax Analogy® fabric in a range of 'Made To Measure' garments for outdoor activities.

The first garment, the Lomond Walking Jacket, is now available and the company aims to offer walking trousers, children's clothing and country sports clothing in Nikwax Analogy® fabric in the near future.

We have had a long association with Nikwax, having been a Páramo retailer for many years in the retail side of our business. The new service will complement the extensive Páramo range offered through our retail outlet and on-line website.

Nikwax Analogy® fabric was developed by Nikwax Managing Director Nick Brown, one of eight Directional Textiles engineered by Nikwax for use in high performance clothing, and is used by Páramo in their highly successful range of Directional Waterproofs. In the same way that seal, otters and bears keep warm in very wet conditions, the Nikwax Analogy® Pump Liner pushes liquid outwards to keep you warm and dry inside.

Hilltrek at Birdfair 2007 in Rutland

We attended Birdfair in Rutland for the first time this year with a range of our Ventile clothing, Nikwax Analogy clothing and Páramo clothing.
Birdfair is the worlds fargest birdwatching event encompassing the whole spectrum of the birdwatching industry and supporting global bird conservation.
We donated a Braemar Ventile Smock to the auction to raise funds for this year's Birdfair project which has the aim of getting birds off the Critically Endangered list.
The Hilltrek team were resplendent in kilts and offered a local delicacy from Royal Deeside, Duncans of Deeside Hand Backed shortbread, to weary Birdfair visitors.
